Warriors CIF run and season ends at Century

Woodbridge 2, Century 4:  On Wednesday afternoon, the Warriors (18-5-5) came onto Century's field hoping to avenge an earlier loss during the season.  But, after an early 1-0 lead on a goal by T.J. Steel, Woodbridge wasn't able to keep up with the Centurions (17-7-3) and ended their outstanding season on a sad note.

In addition to the goal by Steel, the Warriors received scoring support from Kalvin Castrejon on a goal in second half.  In the game, Edgardo Ortan had 9 saves.  Game summary.

Boys Soccer closes out Sea Kings on penalty kick

Woodbridge 2, Corona del Mar 1:  The Warriors (6-0-2 League, 15-3-5 Overall) took a dominating position in the Pacific Coast League standings by beating the Sea Kings (5-2-1, 12-2-6) for the second time in league play at Senior Night on Wednesday atAlton Park.  

  

After a scoreless first half, Woodbridge took a lead as senior Matt Laughlin pounded in a sharp strike after breaking away from the CDM defense down the right side.  The Sea Kings tied it up later in the half.  Then, after a CDM red card, senior Serkan Guvencdrove the resulting penalty kick inside the crossbar for the go-ahead goal.

The Warriors generally controlled action throughout the match but senior goalieEdgardo Ortan still had to come up with 4 saves.  Game summary.  

  

With a three-point lead, Woodbridge now has to close out league play with away games against Northwood (Friday at 5:00pm) and Irvine (next Wednesday at 3:15pm).
